Ian “Easy” Evans, 28, of Bridgeport, who was arrested last year after the Sunday, Sept. 20 incident which left Shernetta Dunmore, of Stamford dead, was arraigned on murder charges on Thursday, April 1.

According to Bridgeport Police, gunshots rang out at approximately 12:15 a.m. Sept. 20 in the parking lot of the Ursula Place Housing Complex.

At the time of the shooting, 30 to 40 people were congregating in the parking lot for an end-of-summer party. Police believe Dunmore was an innocent bystander when she was shot.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found Dunmore with multiple gunshots to her torso. She later died at Stamford hospital from her wounds. Two other men were also injured after being shot.

Evans was charged five days later with assault, criminal attempt at assault, criminal use of a firearm, and reckless endangerment. He has been held since.

On Thursday, Evans's bond was set at $2 million, in addition to a $1 million bond on which he was already being held.

Evans has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
